Challenge complete - We walked 310 miles for Refuge!
We did it!
We raised £1,036 for Refuge in March and we walked 310 miles as a team for the charity’s 62 Miles in March initiative. This incredible figure will help mothers who’ve run away with nothing but still have to send their children to school by providing them with four new school uniforms or supporting the helpline for almost six hours.
When we first talked to Refuge after making a donation in January, they explained that although it isn’t a huge distance or gargantuan effort (in fact, for many of us it was an absolute pleasure being outside walking), the premise of the campaign is that changing a life starts with one small step. And, every step taken will make a difference to the 7,000 people who access their services every single day in the UK.
There were so many great benefits to this campaign beyond the monetary impact for Refuge:
🚶 We took time to step outside every day, a guilt-free moment away from the computer
🚶We felt able to take in our surroundings and shift our daily walk, appreciating where we were
🚶Getting off the tube earlier to walk further gave us a greater sense of our environment as well as an appreciation for shelter on those wetter days!
🚶We loved walking together and having more walking meetings - it’s true creativity can be better out of the (home) office (see below - George and Nicky walking and talking in Piccadilly Circus before attending a PR industry event in the evening)
🚶We had a common goal and a cause we felt passionate about that we could share with our team, our clients and our associates
🚶It felt important to mark Mother’s Day in a different way and to think of mothers everywhere
