PRN pledges support for CAMFED school days initiative
PRN received our B Corp accreditation in May and we wanted to celebrate it with something meaningful to coincide with the agency turning 18 this year. So - we’re supporting 15,000 CAMFED school days. At the same time, we’ve launched an Employee Giving Fund so our team can give back to the individual causes they care about.
CAMFED (Campaign for Female Education) is a 30 year old charity which started with a simple mission to pay for 32 girls to go to secondary school in Zimbabwe. Sadly, secondary education in sub-Saharan Africa is not free, and in poor households girls will be deprioritised out of necessity. High school usually takes around four years and with a Leavers Certificate in their hand, girls get a ticket to a far better future - plus the whole African continent is lifted as more people are educated.
By 2023, 6.4 million girls have been put through school by CAMFED through a network of partner schools in Zimbabwe, Ghana, Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia - including CAMFED’s own CEO, Angeline Murimirwa.
Education changes everything and is a fundamental human right. Girls’ education is the starting point for securing the rights of women and girls globally, while improving community health and resilience to climate shocks.
As a female-owned company whose team feel passionately about improving opportunities for girls and women, the CAMFED mission aligns perfectly with our own values, and by becoming a partner, we hope to help increase awareness and support more African girls through school - beyond the 20 girls we are supporting with the initial donation.
Through the CAMFED Association, women are leading action on the big challenges their communities and countries face – from child marriage, and girls’ exclusion from education to climate change. This unique pan-African network of teachers, nurses, doctors, sustainable agriculture experts and entrepreneurs is growing every year as more girls complete school and join them. They in turn provide the pipeline of future leaders across all sectors of society in their communities and countries.
Young women Agriculture Guides cascade both indigenous and innovative techniques to help improve the productivity, sustainability and profitability of small-holder farmers. Find out more about how girls’ education and gender equality is at the core of effective climate action.
We're excited to be in a position after 18 years of running our own business to be able to donate some of our profit to helping other women who are less fortunate than us.
